Problem
Connect Creatives during Covid-19 Lockdown
This is a personal design project that has been featured in newsletters and zines. It highlights different creatives around NYC and what items they have chosen as their survival tools. A lighthearted look at food, books and movies that have come out during the pandemic and how NYC has used them to escape reality.
Research
I interviewed creatives around NYC about what they are doing to stay busy.
This interactive zine is a new way to see what people have been creating within the walls of their apartments during the pandemic.
I found that focusing on the lighthearted ways locals are coping with the pandemic helped ease the anxiety of an intense time and provided ways for people to share what media they are turning to in order to escape.
Solutions
Exposure
Once the interview profile is published, artists will be able to have greater exposure of their creative persuits and gain a following.
Connection
Our New York community will have a new way to see what our neighbors have been creating within the walls of their apartments for the past year and what is in their “survival guide” (what media are they consuming and what are they eating). For those providing goods or services- this is a way to increase sales through a new and attractive digital format.
Visual Design
The design is modeled after the NYC subway system. I used green as the accent color and a simple color palette to let the photos and media stand out. I formatted the experience similar to the way you flip through a magazine. I wanted to keep the information easy to digest.
